| Because these items are grown in our own backyard, we are able to process them within hours of harvesting, when they are at their "PEAK OF PERFECTION". This locks in the nutritional content, and makes it as good as, if not better than fresh. One study by the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) found that fresh green beans left for three days in the store and three days in a home refrigerator lost nearly two-thirds of their Vitamin C, while frozen green beans had twice that amount.
To supplement our own production, we also import a number of items from around the world to service our customers. These include such unique products as frozen mangos, papayas, pineapple and bananas, as well as frozen baby okra, snow peas, sugar snap peas, water chestnuts, and natural length baby carrots. For a more extensive list, please review our product list.
Most of our products are packaged in poly bags for the Retail and Foodservice industries, at our CFIA and AIB inspected plant in Burnaby. We package a considerable number of frozen fruit blends and frozen vegetable medleys, and are able to react quickly to customer requests for new items.
We also manufacture a number of specialty items, including fruit purées, vegetable purées, fruit lax (a natural laxative), and sweetened fruit purées for use in desserts, beverages, etc.
Our service levels are excellent, with a 99% fill rate being our goal. Most orders are normally shipped within 72 hours of receipt.
In addition to our own branded labels, Snowcrest packs many of Western Canada's major retail private label fruits and vegetables, as well as a number of the Foodservice Distributors' own labels.
